What you'll learn

  • Read and produce complex third-angle assemblies with welding, machining, surface-texture and tolerance symbols
  • Draw civil sets from foundation to roof, including electrical, plumbing, drainage and site plans
  • Construct interpenetration curves where the axes are offset rather than intersecting
  • Develop sectioned pyramids, cones and complex transition pieces, including seam allowance
  • Construct cam profiles for uniform, simple harmonic and uniform acceleration/retardation motion, with any follower type
  • Plot the loci of up to three points on a mechanism and work to NSC examination standard

Before you start

  • Grade 11 EGD: assemblies, interpenetration, developments, helix and uniform-motion cams
  • Confident with true-length construction and the generator method
