To add larger whole numbers, stack them so the columns line up — units under units, tens under tens — and add each column from the right. When a column total reaches 1010 or more, carry the extra ten into the next column.

Worked example. 1236+4581\,236 + 458:

1236+  4581694\begin{array}{r} 1236 \\ +\;458 \\ \hline 1694 \end{array}

Units: 6+8=146+8=14 — write 44, carry 11. Tens: 3+5+1=93+5+1=9. Hundreds: 2+4=62+4=6. Thousands: 11. Total 16941\,694.

Work out 234+152234 + 152.

Work out 476+268476 + 268.

Work out 1340+28151\,340 + 2\,815.

A spaza shop sold 12501\,250 airtime vouchers in June and 13801\,380 in July. How many did it sell altogether?
