What you'll learn

  • Use the correct line type for every line you draw, and read what another draughtsperson's lines are claiming
  • Construct bisections, perpendiculars, polygons, tangents and fillets accurately with compasses and a straight edge
  • Lay out and read third-angle orthographic working drawings, including hidden detail, centre lines, dimensions and sections
  • Work in first angle for solid geometry and civil drawing, and explain why the two conventions place views differently
  • Find the true shape of a sectioned solid, and set out a single-storey foundation-to-slab plan to scale

Before you start

  • Grade 9 Mathematics: angles, triangles, circles and ratio
  • A set of drawing instruments: compasses, 45° and 60° set squares, protractor and a hard pencil
