Exam-Style Revision
≈ 40 minThe final lesson consolidates the whole course into an exam-ready routine.
Marks live in the working:
- Show the rearrangement to standard form.
- Name or show the method (factors, roots, formula).
- Give both roots for quadratics; state rejections with reasons.
- Check by substitution — silently for yourself, always.
Time budget (CAPS paper rhythm): linear ≈ 2–3 marks / 3 minutes; quadratic by factorising ≈ 3–4 marks; formula questions ≈ 4–5 marks. If a factor-hunt exceeds ~40 seconds, switch to the formula — it earns the same marks.
The classic mark-losers, one last time: dividing by (lost root) · forgetting (lost root) · sign slip in · answering the equation but not the question ("find the width" wants metres, not just ).
